Preparing for a trip such as this is no small task, but having a team such as this makes it an exciting adventure! On Saturday, May 23rd our team of 5 Nursing majors and 5 college athletes along with leaders Ryan and Laci Vanderboegh and Craig Lewis all met up at LAX to begin our journey and mission trip to Mindoro, Philippines.
The Lord was very good to us as the details that had been planned for the day of travel went off without a hitch.
Bags checked in? ✅
Boarding passes? ✅
Security cleared? ✅
Now we are on our 17 hour flight to Singapore (before we catch our 3.5 hour flight BACK to Manila…we realized the flight path to Singapore from LAX goes right over Manila and since they don’t hand out parachutes we will keep going :-). We can’t help but wonder about all that God will do through us these next ten days and look forward to the exciting ministry opportunities this team will have.
We left on Saturday and will arrive in Manila on Monday. The plan for our first day? Try to beat jet lag as much as possible. Some of us were trying to stay up as long as possible to help switch our bodies over to their time zone. We left LAX at 11:20 p.m. CT which is 2 p.m. Mindoro time so the goal for some was to stay up six hours. Unfortunately, by the third hour into the flight we had all been fed our first meal and most of us had succumbed to how tired we were. Oh well, we tried! Thank you to each person who has prayed, given, and followed this journey so far. I’m looking forward to updating you all on this wonderful opportunity!
